The Dartmouth Center on Addiction, Recovery and Education (DCARE), was founded in 2002, and is dedicated to addressing the issue of substance abuse in the Dartmouth and Upper Valley communities. Resources available in addressing this issue include task forces for various audiences including alumni, college, community, and College Curriculum Committee. This 12-page document contains 20 abstracts and citations on available research that inform the topic. Some of these interesting topics include: brief intervention for heavy-drinking college students: 4-year follow-up and natural history; the relationship of early inhalant use to substance use in college students; the increased use of marijuana and other illicit drugs at US colleges in the 1990s: results of three national surveys; and the age of first intoxication, heavy drinking, driving after drinking and risk of unintentional injury among US college students.
